Getting Started with the K Desktop
(Note: for the most part the following K desktop discussion is based upon using K with Caldera OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4. What actually happens for you might vary some depending upon what Linux distribution you are using.)
The first time you use the K desktop, a desktop configuration wizard pops up to help you set up your personal K desktop configuration. Please see Figure 1. Simply click Next to proceed to Page 2 of the KDE wizard.

.
On Page 2 of the KDE wizard, (Figure 2) you can click on the Windows Theme to change the desktop to something that looks and feels very MS Windows-like. Please notice in Figure 3 that clicking on Windows Theme has resulted in the desktop background morphing from the default dark blue KDE background to the default MS Windows blue-green.

Please notice the K Panel at the botom of the desktop now includes the buttons for the opened programs that were at the top of the desktop before it was switched from the KDE Default Theme to the Windows Theme desktop. |
