That brings up the Preferences window shown in Figure 12. The left portion of the Preferences window is a list of preference categories. In Figure 12, the Navigator category is highlighted so the main Navigator preferences are displayed on the right side of the Preferences window.
Figure 12. Netscpe 6.0 Preferences Screen. We are not going to set all the preferences today -- just the more important privacy and security related preferences. Instructions for setting other preferences, and also display options, are in an upcoming MozillaQuest Magazine article Basic Configuration Step 3:Figure 12 shows the default main Navigator preferences. You can change the start-up Web page from the Netscape home page to a blank page by un-ticking Home page and checking Blank page. One advantage of starting with a blank page is that you do not have to wait for whatever your Home page choice is to download before you can start using the Netscape browser. However, if there is a Web page that you always look at first whenever you start Netscape, then you might as well leave Home page ticked and replace the Netscape home page in the Home page Location input box with the URL (Universal Resource Locator) of the Web page you want to look at first, every time you start Netscape. Figure 13 shows the Blank page choice selected. To make Bookmarks and Go appear on the Toolbar, X them in the Toolbars checklist shown in Figure 13. |
